Bereavement

Grief is normally associated with someone’s death but there are actually many situations in life that can bring about grief. Grief is a deep emotional void left a result of some loss, be it a physical loss or an emotional loss.

Grief can be experienced as the result of a relationship break-up, be it for the child of divorcing parents or for the loss/end of a relationship, not necessarily intimate.

It can also be the consequence of not having lived fully a certain period of life, like having missed on a happy childhood or youth, or the realisation of missed opportunities like that of creating a family, or having had to give up on aspirations because of some situational constraints.

But it can also be the result of a financial loss, losing your job or home or also for the loss of a certain life-style, again for example, the change in lifestyle experienced by a child when the parents separate is a direct trigger to grief.

Grief is a deep feeling that if unresolved can lead to depression. Anyone experiencing depression is grieving some sort of loss but not everyone going through grief will develop depression and this depends on the level of supporting relationships the person has available to them.

When grief doesn’t seem to resolve within up to around 2 years-time depending on the cause, it is important to seek professional support in order to close the grieving cycle and move on.

With hypnotherapy the unresolved grief is released so the loss causing event can be placed in the past once and for all thus enabling the person to cherish the memories and move on with their life.

Depression

Depression’s symptoms vary and can go from a general lack of interest for life and constant low energy to a strong feeling of grief. Grief is a deep emotional void left a result of some loss, be it a physical loss like losing your job or home or even a certain lifestyle or an emotional loss like a relationship break-up, be it for the child of divorcing parents or for the loss/end of a relationship, not necessarily intimate. Or again depression can be the consequence of not having lived fully a certain period of life, like having missed on a happy childhood or youth, or the realisation of missed opportunities like that of creating a family, or having had to give up on some aspiration because of some situational constraints.

Some depressed people are able to carry on smiling and give no signal to the other world of their pain. Depression is lived in isolation as it is obvious that people who have never suffered from depression can understand the pain and how there doesn’t seem to be a way out, but a way out is possible indeed.

Depression is labelled as an illness but there is nothing furthest from the truth. Again it is due to bad experiences and bottled up emotions, possibly unresolved trauma and once the grieving part is given voice and the causes worked with and processed depression is truly lifted off your shoulders once and for all so you can start making plans once again.

Remember: “Nothing is Impossible, the word itself says I’M POSSIBLE!”

An emotional void as the result of Grief and Depression can be overcome.

“There is ample evidence that psychotherapy coupled with hypnosis for the treatment of depression can be highly effective.”

End of Life

Facing an illness or the end of one’s journey in life is a difficult and daunting experience as nothing can prepare us and the people around us to face such time that is bound to bring to mind challenging questions on the meaning of life and of one’s existence. It is bound to make the person face his/her own self and the way they have lived life until that moment which may trigger regret, anger and frustration and the inability to change things can magnifies the fear of what is going to happen next.

Hypnotherapy’s effectiveness for any kind of issue results from bringing the mind to a peaceful state of acceptance of what cannot be changed and in the case of facing illness or the end one’s journey in life also by putting into perspective the way the person understands life by questioning reality as we intend it and by guiding the person to find the meaning of their life and their journey.

For those who are to accompany someone on this difficult journey hypnotherapy will help dealing with the anxiety and assisting in getting through the stages of bereavement ensuring the person affected can go back to a balanced life.
