Reduce Anxiety
Are you suffering because of anxiety or a particular fear?
Challenging yourself to ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ is the best way to reduce the anxiety if you cannot go to a professional at this time in your life
It may take longer but I can guarantee you it works, in fact this is one of the techniques that I use with my clients. First I have them identify how they would like to feel and behave in the triggering situation and then I have them visualise being in those triggering situations and feel and behave the way they want. Then they will take incremental steps in their real life and expose themselves little by little to those triggering experiences and practising what they visualised in my clinic.
In pushing yourself a little bit out of your comfort zone in increments you will expand your comfort zone. And the best part is that because your unconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between reality and imagination, by rehearsing the behaviour you want in your mind first you are priming yourself to doing in for real so that it will be easier when you actually do it.
Of course it takes some time and you will still experience discomfort and you push yourself. The challenge is to sit with your emotions, feel them, while at the same time reminding yourself that they are only temporary and they will soon dissipate, in the knowledge that emotions are only Energy in Motion ‘e-motion’. Therefore the worst you can do for yourself is fearing your own uncomfortable emotions, albeit that’s exactly what happens automatically when you have no awareness of how your mind and your emotions work.
By fearing your own emotions you are letting them take control over you and your life and when you feel not in control your life becomes more and more difficult.
If there is only one thing that you can be in control of in life that is your own mind, everything else you may feel you are in control of is just an illusion.
