The Power of Positive Thinking
Positive thinking, although powerful, isn’t always a walk in the park. It’s about maintaining an optimistic outlook, finding good things even when life doesn’t go our own way and even in the total opposite direction.
In this blog, we aim to understand why positive thinking can enrich our experiences, even when facing life’s most daunting challenges.
At the heart of positive thinking is a simple yet profound Universal principle – the Law of Attraction. This rule suggests that like attracts like, thus when we embrace a positive mindset, we attract opportunities because it becomes easier to let go and move on. By not accepting what is going on we cannot let go and therefore we are holding onto the experience even longer.
When we can accept what’s going on it becomes easier to let go of the hard feelings and therefore the energies move on more freely and therefore quicker. This positivity sets in motion a chain reaction, creating more opportunities in life and because we are not blinded by negativity we can readily see the opportunities.
But let’s not forget how one can really struggle to be at all positive. This is particularly true of people who have experienced a rough beginning in life, facing constant chaos and inner turmoil. Because our minds have a natural tendency to focus on the negative if you were raised in a dysfunctional environment and negativity was all around you most of the time, it’s totally understandable how it would be very hard to see the positive in anything even when your life has moved on and objectively things are now much better, the negative mindset stays.
Another reason why someone can find it hard to stay positive, regardless of their life experience is a biological one. Our minds are in fact hardwired to avoid pain. It’s a survival mechanism that has helped us survive for thousands of years allowing the human species to come this far.
This hardwiring ensures that we quickly make associations on the base of previous experiences: for instance, if X, Y, Z have caused problems in the past, we instinctively avoid anything that remotely resembles X, Y, Z cues as we have associated them with trouble.
Ultimately, even if it may not be easy to shift gear into positivity, it is possible for everyone to do so and it’s something we should all strive for, in fact without even taking the Law of Attraction in consideration, training ourselves to see the positive in everything simply makes life easier as we can shift our negative feelings by steering our thinking, and as we create these new mental patterns we change our view of reality. Life becomes less of a drama and more of a balanced picture. Challenges don’t look as scary when we’re centered and calm.
Positive thinking doesn’t mean denying life’s challenges; it’s about facing them with a more realistic view. Especially nowadays reality is rarely as terrible as our fears make it out to be. Positive thinking helps us quit dramatising and therefore enjoying life more and when we enjoy life more life becomes more fulfilling.
