Tight Stomach, Loose Bowels?
Anxiety is a most wide spread emotional issue that thousands of people have to cope with every day.
The typical feeling of anxiety is a tight stomach and a need to go to the bathroom more often than normal but it can be felt in the chest as a tightness or even pain, it may cause headaches or feel like a knot in the throat making it difficult to eat or even speak etc.
If not resolved to its origin anxiety tends to spread easily in to every single fibre of the sufferer and may become really hindering preventing the person from enjoying life in its simplest situations. And it is horrible trying to cope with it because usually whatever method we try it is not efficient, let alone long lasting.
Some level of anxiety is normal when we face something new, but sometimes we may experience free floating anxiety that gets triggered by different situations, or may be felt like constantly present “in the background” and for some other people it may seem like it just comes up from nowhere.
However there is always a reason as to why we are getting such symptoms and in most cases that reason is completely locked away from awareness and residing in the subconscious mind.
In my case I used to have a very deep rooted fear of failure that was instilled very early by being raised in an environment full of criticism and negativity. There was never a supporting word whatsoever and anything I’d want to do was met with “No” or at best with a monotonous but very scary: “What if… this and that happens?” that would instantly be taken as it was meant to be taken, as yet another simple “No”.
No wonder any new situation would trigger a tight stomach and lose bowels for me!
How not to expect the worst even in what was supposed to be an enjoyable situation like meeting new people and having fun? Eventually after years and years of badly coping with my symptoms I was fortunate enough to work with a hypnotherapist and what an eye opener that was!
There are many ways anxiety can hinder our life but there is no need to put up with it and try our best at coping in the hope that one day it will just disappear, because it won’t, and if left untreated anxiety will easily spread to affect the sufferer in many other ways and can easily turn in to panic attacks that take place anywhere and anytime.
In my opinion dealing with anxiety is bad enough, no one should get to the stage where they feel completely out of control and running the risk to put themselves and sometimes even others in danger because they are having a panic attack.
A recent client of mine who had been kept “hostage” by her anxiety for decades said “When I came to you I was desperate and I have achieved so much more than I ever thought I would, I cannot thank you enough”.
Remember: “Nothing is Impossible, the word itself says
I’M POSSIBLE!”
