What’s Holding You Back
Have you ever wondered why it is so hard to follow through our resolutions, whereas it is so easy to procrastinate?
Following from last week’s post “Have You Ever Wished Upon a Star?” going forward we will explore different reasons and/or issues that hold us back from getting unstuck and move forward, from achieving our goals, from achieving the life we want and you will see that it makes complete sense how that dream/project ended up at the back of some drawer at the very bottom of your heart.
The main reason is probably that “Now it’s not the right time” and this is the same old excuse that we give ourselves when we realize we just can’t seem to make that change and to be able to keep that new routine.
Just think this, if it was never the right time in the past 10-20 years or even longer, guess what, it will never be!
We have to make Now the right time as each and every one of us is only one decision away from achieving what we wish, be it getting unstuck or going for the wildest dream.
There is no magic in this world but the power of choice! And once we make that initial choice it will be easier to follow suit so you will see the realization of your project unfolding just in front of your eyes.
But what keeps us from taking that decision, what makes us procrastinate endlessly? And even when we eventually set ourselves to start, so we actually do take the first step to change, why is it so difficult to keep going until we achieve our goal? It seems like slipping back is always so much easier that keeping going!
Why is it that changing habits is so difficult, no matter how unhealthy they are is like smoking, over-drinking, over-eating or even falling back in to a bad relationship, if not picking again the wrong kind of partner?
The reason is down to our subconscious mind, that part of the mind that makes us breathe and makes our heart beat without us having to think about it. It is the more primordial part of the mind and it is responsible for keeping us safe and it works on the pleasure principle, you know the way you really cannot resist that chocolate or that cigarette!
The subconscious mind loves routine as it makes us feel safe which is why we are always nervous to start something new or to take a decision that we think will significantly change our path.
Also it does not understand that some change is beneficial to us as the subconscious is not a logical mind, rather an artistic one, it is the seat of our emotions and is impressionable.
It is where habits are imprinted which is why it is so difficult to eradicate them; you know the way you will never forget how to ride a bicycle or drive a car, that’s why!
Once an action is repeated or a belief held for at least 21 days it gets imprinted in our subconscious mind and it will be very hard to eradicate it.
But… dread not!
Because if actions and beliefs get anchored in there they can also be removed, so yes, it is possible to eradicate bad habits and not only, it is possible to change those beliefs that you learned a long time ago because of bad experiences or because back then they were useful for the situation you were in but nowadays simply do not serve you well any longer and in fact sabotage your new desire for change!
Obviously in order to eradicate those habits and beliefs work must be done through the subconscious mind and this is easily done in hypnotherapy.
In fact it is so much easier to make changes happen this way rather than using our bare will power and this is simply because our subconscious mind is responsible for 95% of our behavior and only 5% is driven by our conscious mind.
The subconscious mind is really all powerful and all it takes for us to achieve what we want is that the conscious and the subconscious minds are aligned in their wishes.
I can guarantee you I know all about it as I suffered with depression until a couple of years ago and would just keep repeating a certain pattern in my relationships until I got the help I needed with hypnotherapy.
It honestly changed my life so much so that I have become a hypnotherapist and psychotherapist myself so I can expand the knowledge and offer real help to as many people as possible.
So going forward we will explore different issues that hold us back from getting unstuck and achieving our goals, from achieving the life we want and I will give you real life examples of how I or the people I have helped, have achieved the results they couldn’t bring themselves to achieve, so stay tuned and… remember:
Nothing is Impossible, the word itself says I’M POSSIBLE!
Change is easier than you think with hypnotherapy and all you have to do is take that first step and get in touch for a chat at 0858377141
